Writing & reflecting on significant memories can be healing and transformative. As a freelance  writer and as a former reporter for a small weekly newspaper, I have helped tell the stories of others.

As a teacher for the past twenty years, I have assisted writers of all abilities and ages from high school & college classes to adult workshops. I hold a BA in English & MFA in Writing for Children. 

Sometimes, the way into a story is to approach it from a different angle. I have a graduate certificate in expressive and creative arts and in yoga.

No matter the group, writing and sharing stories is a gift for both the teller and receiver. The details of our stories may be different, but there remains a common thread in the human experience that connects us all.

The 6-week workshop is held in a live 2-hour zoom session once a week.

Open to writers of all abilities and ages.

Limited to 12 participants. 

Each week we will look closely into the people, places and events of your life to uncover a focus. We will generate short written pieces for each topic that will culminate  in the draft of a story of

Each week we will look closely into the people, places and events of your life to uncover a focus. We will generate short written pieces for each topic that will culminate  in the draft of a story of 1500 words or less by the end of the workshop.

Weekly sessions include:

• Timed expressive writing prompts to generate ideas for short written pieces.
• Group sharing and feedback on short written pieces to determine focus for final essay. 
• Discussion of craft issues such as voice, scene, summary & symbol.
• Analysis of selected short readings provided by instructor to be read in advance of class.
